hymie!

I just need to yell at somebody.
I work for a Very Large Government Agency, which means I am very
compartmentalized. I have a bunch of machines that I manage, but I
do not manage the network they are on, or the switches that comprise
this network.
We rebooted a machine, and it auto-negotiated 10Mb/s network speed
instead of the expected 1Gb/s. We checked the machine, adjusted a
bunch of settings, rebooted it a couple of times, but nothing we could
do would convince the machine to negotiate any speeds higher than 10Mb/s.
So I called the network team.
The first thing they asked for was a source and destination IP address.
I eventually convinced them that I'm not looking at network lag or
throughput issues, I want to know why the switch port isn't
auto-negotiating properly.
So they fixed the auto-negotiation problem.
They set the port to force 10Mb/s .
